NEW YORK, NY–(Marketwired – October 12, 2016) – How the Taste of Louisiana Was Born, a documentary discovering the heartland of Cajun and Creole cuisine, has been selected to the New York Food Film Festival. The screening in New York’s Times Square, Friday, October 22, is the highest honor for the film featuring Tony Chachere’s, as the event only chooses what are considered the best of the best of today’s food documentaries. During food festival screenings, attendees can taste the tempting dishes they encounter onscreen. As How the Taste of Louisiana Was Born airs, Tony Chachere’s Chef Jude Tauzin will serve Creamy BBQ Shrimp, a dish he prepared in one of the segments.
How the Taste of Louisiana Was Born is a primer to the history and development of a people and their cuisine. This film paints a comprehensive picture of Cajun and Creole culture largely centered around family, companionship, regional independence and the universal tie that binds — their food. It traces the humble roots of this singular cuisine, and the respect and appeal it has achieved throughout the United States and the world.
It tells the story of generations of family farmers who’ve worked the land for hundreds of years and of culinary pioneers, including Tony Chachere, the “Ole Master” of Creole cooking. He founded Tony Chachere’s Famous Creole Cuisine in 1972. The film shows how, to this day, his Chachere family continues to own and operate the company … maintaining his tradition of Creole authenticity in their line of seasonings, mixes, marinades and sauces.
